LTEC Neutral Grounding Reactors (NGRs) are designed for industrial applications to safely ground wye-connected generators. Installed between the neutral and ground, they control line-to-ground fault currents. As a current-limiting solution, our NGRs restrict fault levels to safely coordinate with your protective relays, preventing severe damage to critical equipment.
- Reduces Over-voltages & Equipment Damage
- Enables Quicker Fault Location
- Increases Personnel Safety
Product Feature
Transient Overvoltage Suppression
Dampens voltage spikes during transient ground faults. This protects your system's insulation integrity and prevents unexpected breakdowns.
Maximum Thermal Endurance
Built with Class H (180°C) or 200°C insulation and Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI). This ensures superior dielectric strength and reliable performance in harsh, high-moisture environments.
Enhanced Protection Coordination
Provides sufficient fault current for accurate relay operation. Ensures rapid fault detection and clearing, maximizing the safety and reliability of your power grid.
Maintenance-Free Lifespan
Features a dry-type, air-core design. This completely eliminates oil leakage and magnetic saturation risks, requiring virtually zero maintenance over its lifespan.

Application
- Protecting Generators & Transformers
Safely limits single-phase-to-ground fault currents in electrical networks, preventing severe damage to critical generators and transformers. - Extending Switchgear Lifespan
Suppresses temporary overvoltages caused by instantaneous fault currents, significantly reducing stress on your switchgear and extending its operational life. - Ensuring Personnel Safety
Reduces step and touch voltages during ground faults to safe levels, protecting maintenance personnel from electrical hazards. - Wye-Connected Generator Grounding
Provides a reliable grounding path for wye-connected generators in industrial plants, ensuring stable and safe system operation.
Reactor vs. Resistor: How to Choose?
Both options have their place. Choose a Resistor if you need to strictly limit fault current using actual resistance. However, if your system has a high tolerance for fault currents (typically 500A or more), a Reactor is the better choice. In most high-current scenarios, reactors offer a more cost-efficient and durable solution.

FAQ
Q: What is the main advantage of using a Neutral Grounding Reactor?
A: The primary advantage is limiting the fault current to a safe level that prevents equipment damage while still allowing enough current for protective relays to detect and clear the fault. It also suppresses transient overvoltages.
Q: Do your grounding reactors require oil filling?
A: No. Our standard grounding reactors are dry-type, air-core units. This eliminates the risk of oil leakage and fire hazards, making them safer and maintenance-free compared to oil-filled reactors.
Q: Can these reactors be installed outdoors?
A: Yes. Our standard configuration includes a NEMA 3R enclosure, which is designed to withstand outdoor weather conditions. We can also provide NEMA 4X or 12 enclosures upon request.
Q: How does the insulation system ensure durability?
A: We use a Class H (180°C) or 200°C insulation system combined with a Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) process. This seals the windings completely, providing excellent resistance to moisture, dust, and thermal aging.
Q: What are the key features of the NGR-AC-13.8KV-400A model?
A: This specific unit is a single-phase reactor with a 400A capacity and 13800Y/8000 VAC rating. It features a NEMA 3R enclosure for indoor/outdoor use, 155℃ insulation with an 80℃ temperature rise, and special surface protection for UV and pollution Class IV areas.
