What is the working principle of a reactor?

In practical applications, reactors are usually manufactured using hollow coils and can be arranged vertically, horizontally, or in the letter direction according to requirements. When a short-circuit fault occurs in the power grid system, a strong short-circuit current is generated, posing a threat to the stable operation of electrical equipment. In order to enhance short-circuit impedance and limit short-circuit current, reactors are usually connected in series at the position of the outgoing circuit breaker. Its working principle is shown in the diagram. Through this method, the reactor can effectively protect electrical equipment and ensure the safe and stable operation of the system.
Due to the use of reactors, the voltage drop generated during short-circuit faults is significant, which helps maintain a stable level of bus voltage. Reactors can effectively control the fluctuation of bus voltage within a very small range, ensuring stable operation of equipment on lines that have not experienced faults.
