Application examples of reactors

There are countless examples of the application of reactors in power systems. Taking the half core dry-type shunt reactor as an example, it is usually connected to the tertiary coil of a transformer, and plays a role in compensating for the capacitive charging current of the transmission line, limiting the system voltage rise, and operating overvoltage in ultra-high voltage long-distance transmission systems. In addition, on the low voltage 35kV side of the 500kV substation, in order to limit the short-circuit current of the transmission line and protect power equipment, damping reactors (i.e. series reactors) will be installed together with capacitor banks to form a harmonic circuit and filter out high-order harmonics.
